Music Of Indonesia



The music of Indonesia demonstrates its cultural diversity, the local musical creativity, as well as subsequent foreign musical influences that shaped contemporary music scenes of Indonesia. Nearly thousands of Indonesian islands having its own cultural and artistic history and character. This results in hundreds of different forms of music, which often accompanies dance and theater. The music of Java, Sumatra, Bali, and other islands. The music Native Indonesian tribes often incorporate chants and songs accompanied with musics instruments in their rituals.


GAMELAN
A gamelan is a traditional musical ensemble from Indonesia, typically from the islands of Java and Bali. A gamelan is a set of instruments as a distinct entity, built and tuned to stay together  instruments from different gamelan are generally not interchangeable. For most Indonesians, gamelan music is an integral part of Indonesian culture.
Javanese gamelans use two tuning systems: slendro and pelog. In central Javanese gamelan, slendro is a system with five notes to the octave, fairly evenly spaced, while pelog has seven notes to the octave, with uneven intervals.
Balinese gamelan instruments are commonly played in pairs which are tuned slightly apart to produce interference beats, at a consistent speed for all pairs.
Gamelan is also found outside of Indonesia. There are forms of gamelan that have developed outside Indonesia, such as in the United States and in Malaysia.

ANGKLUNG
The Angklung is a musical instrument made of two bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. The tubes are carved to have a resonant pitch when struck and are tuned to octaves.
